At last!! So say you, and so say I, and I think, likely, so says Nancy. For it is finished, done. And while that door is now shut for all time, for I will not open it again not even for a peek to see if what was behind it is still there, other doors must, of necessity, open. Like our hero Roland, for a time, I have been lost in time and space. Stuck between worlds you might say. Driven ever onward to finish the quest and yet at the same time having no taste for it. For those who, perchance, saw my comment from some days ago and were confused, let me explain. I have been finishing an adventure that I embarked on long ago, some 15 years now at least. When I began reading The Dark Tower series all those years ago, there were two books completed with more promised. Soon the third appeared and I read that one as well. Years past with nothing new in this series and I soon gave up hope of ever finishing it, even if it eventually came out. Well, all these years later it did, in fact, come out and the story was complete. Mary, had bought the series and read it with excitement exclaiming to me that I must read it too. I borrowed her books in May, re-reading two of the seven books in the series before returning to Cairo. I took none of these books with me as we roamed through Europe, although we read aplenty during our travels. But since returning I have been doing little else except reading the remaining five. Now I am done and this, in turn, might explain why Nancy will likely be thrilled, especially if one of the new doors I open says "Cabana Boy" over it. (which, oddly, one of them does, right next to the one that says "Blogger Boy")
In any event, I felt it necessary to at once explain and apologize for my singlemindedness of the past month. Cry Pardon, if it pleases ya! As for the story, what I said early is true, like the writer who wrote it, I am quite simply just happy to be done with it. Even while I read it I simply wanted it to be done with and yet I could not put it aside unfinished again. As one of the character says "Go then, there are other worlds than these" and it's to that which we call the "real world" that I now return, if only I had listened sooner.
While I still anxiously await a blog entry from our Guest Bloggers (Julie, Tom and family in Ireland, and Mary in Scotland) I will post some more pictures of our stay in Ireland along with some brief commentary which will likely be amended and added to over the coming days. These include pictures of our travels through Derry, Northern Ireland and down toward the Cliffs of Moher, as well as our trip out to the largest of the Aran Isles, the Dingle peninsula, Ring of Kerry and last but not least, Skellig Michael. Look in June to find'm and enjoy! If you don't see'm don't worry, they're a-coming, you're probably just faster than me.
